From East to West
For classical musicians, every note counts. How do they handle the free improvisation of a jazz trio? The Yannic Forster Trio takes on the experiment. Using only his own work, German pianist and bandleader Yannic Forster puts four classically trained string players to work. The result is the new project From East to West.
The listener is taken on a musical journey from the traditional Middle East to contemporary Western sounds. Inspired by artists such as Avishai Cohen, Shai Maestro and Oliver Messiaen, he builds a musical bridge between the many centuries-old East and the contemporary West. The debut EP, “From East to West”, was relased in TivoliVredenburg on 5th of May 2023.
