Pianist and composer Yannic Forster (1998) presents his graduation concert at the HKU Conservatory, offering a personal and multifaceted journey through his musical world. As he completes his Master’s studies, this evening brings together the different constellations that have shaped his artistic voice in recent years.
The concert opens with solo piano: intimate, reflective, and grounded in storytelling. Here, Yannic explores his love for lyrical melodies, subtle harmonies, and the space between silence and sound.

He is then joined by Italian vocalist Linda Ropa, his musical partner in the improvisation duo Duo Scatz. Together, they create spontaneous soundscapes where voice and piano intertwine freely – playful, poetic, and deeply rooted in the moment.
The second half of the concert features the Yannic Forster Trio, with Song Yi Lee on double bass and Damian de Muijnck on drums. This versatile ensemble, winner of the 2023 Denise Jannah Award, blends modern jazz with influences from the Middle East and classical music, drawing inspiration from artists like Avishai Cohen, Shai Maestro, and Olivier Messiaen.
To conclude, Linda joins the trio to present selections from their 2025 debut album Waning Moon – a collection of original compositions that weave together improvisation, narrative depth, and a rich palette of moods. Her voice adds a new layer of expression, bridging text and pure sound, and bringing a vibrant theatricality to the trio’s sound world.
